A casual eatery in beautiful Ogden Canyon with a familiar taste.
An amazingly beautiful drive up the Ogden canyon, a waterfall at the entrance is a stunning way to start the trip, as you journey through the majestic canyon envious of those homes set right on the riverfront. Parking is a bit of a challenge for this off the side of the road diner in this small tight canyon and the atmosphere nearly makes up for the wait for the patio seating. It took a while for our server to came and took our order, even longer for the food to come out and as for the check well I had to get up and go ask for it. So the moral of the story is don't plan on doing anything else for the day, because you'll spend most of your time here at this restaurant… waiting.
The Oak Salad is picture perfect with a great variety of fresh flavors bursting from a seemingly simple salad. The chicken sandwich was sufficient but needed only one cheese as to not conflict the flavors and the onion rings had a nearly perfect batter on them which seemed particularly peculiar. The Steak sandwich seemed to be a rather elegant sandwich with sliced sirloin steak, sautéed mushrooms, onions and peppers. So when a basic Philly Cheese Steak sandwich gets served it was a bit of a disappointment, but the sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly, a nice crispy outside for that perfect crunch to a moist chewy center of the sweet potato. The Sysco flavoring is starting to kick in as the realization of the food is just a glorified Crown Burger meal at a beautiful outside private table right along side the Ogden river.
